Day 3 and 4

Day 3 was a busy day where we had a lot accomplished even though it was quite broken up.

In the morning we started early, the kids new we had a busy day and that we needed o get started right away.  Well one great thing we found out is that non of us can follow directions, I complained about Tuesday that we had to read forever well if we would have read directions, we were not supposed to read the whole chapter!  That makes much more sense!    So we completed lesson three much easier as we read everything already.

1.) worksheet on verbs
2.) how to draw turtles
3) the worksheet on problems and solutions faced by the main character in this chapter.

I had a DRs apt at 9:20 in the morning so the kids brought their school work with them and worked on it while they waited, when I came out into the waiting room, I had to wait for them to finish what they were doing because they were working on magic squares together!

We continued on in math with lesson 3 in Rightstart.  We did more complex magic squares, and they added two squares, multiplied etc.  Genevieve was really enjoying these.  Nathan somewhat enjoyed them, but he is definitely having a harder time concentrating, he was confused at first when we were doing it, and forgot what he had done yesterday, then he was saying he did not know how to add 8 plus 2.  And I was saying Nathan you do know how to do this look at it add it.   If you have 8 things and you add 2 more what is it.  He then went what you mean I am supposed to add 8 plus 2 well that's 10, I have no idea why he could not see that.  What was going on in his brain, but after that he seemed to do much better.

After math we had to go to physiotherapy and music.  Genevieve has 1 hour with Kim and Nathan is doing 1/2 hour after he is finished with physio.  Genevieve made up a wonderful song, she is not quite finished it but next week she will finish it.  I love ho w she knows exactly how she wants the song to sound and she can work with Kim to figure it out together.  I will attach a video I recorded so that they had a record of what it sounded like, so she would not forget how the song went.

After physio, we had planned on doing a little more school work, but Nathan was tired, I was tired...

So we had lunch and had about a 1 hour break before we left the house again.  I was dropping Nathan off in Rosedale at a friends house, and then taking Genevieve to her first day of CSOPA, and then I was going off to childrens for an EDS support meeting.  So we get to CSOPA and no one is there, guess what I am a week early, so off I go driving gigi to Rosedale, and this was already putting me behind dropping her off.  Then I had to pick up another fellow EDSer in sardis, and then another in abbotsford.  We arrived at childrens about 20 minutes late....  Oh well it was a good meeting, but long drive in and out again.

Day 4

Well I think Day 3 did me in.  I didn't wake up until 10:30  Kids came in, in the morning Nathan said don't wake her she is in a deep sleep.  So I woke up with the cold turning into a man cold today, you know the whiny this sucks kind.  I thought yesterday it was gone, and I was on the upswing! Not so definitely sick sick sick today.

So today for school we watched episode 1 in Canada a Peoples History.  We watched it on youtube, but it definitely was not a great copy, we tried to watch it on the tv, but it was not clear enough for Nathan and it was making him sick watching it, so we watched it on the computer instead.  I think I might look into getting the DVD's as they were definitely good, and would be great for the next few years covering Canadian history...

So after watching our movie, we got ready to go to cheer, Genevieve has a private lesson at 4-4:30 then has cheer until 6:30.

I promise I will take more pictures of school tomorrow!  I know it makes the post more interesting...

  1. Wow - that music time with Kim is so perfect for Genevieve. Awesome song! I'm excited for her to start at CSOPA though sorry that you made an extra stop there!

Can you upload a pic (or email/text me) of Genevieve's worksheet on problem/solution?

Why don't I order the DVDs for you on Genevieve's SLP. They will be free to borrow from TLA.

  2. I'm glad you were able to attend the EDS meeting and bring others along. I'm sure it was exhausting, but you would have insight that would really help other families.

I hope Nathan is enjoying physio. Janet and Kim are great! It's wonderful to have the combination of skills that they have.

Hope the DVDs are a better option for social studies...
